Co-Owner Robert Nelson Moves to Japan

October 1, 2007

Co-owner Robert James Nelson has taken a big leap and moved to Japan with his wife. He will be there for approximately five years. His wife was hired as an English Language teacher for Japanese students there, but he plans to use this move to the advantage of Avatar PC.

While he is there, Robert will be our liaison and scout, keeping an ear to the ground for breaking new technologies in processors, motherboards, and expansion cards. Anything that we can incorporate into our systems to give our customers the best performance and quality available for the price.

Avatar Performance Computers extends its farewells and good wishes to Robert and Nicole while they acquaint themselves with Japanese culture and everyday living.

AMD and ATI Combine Forces

October 25, 2006

Taken from the AMD website: On October 25, 2006, AMD and ATI joined forces in a transaction that combines AMD’s technology leadership in microprocessors with ATI’s strengths in graphics, chipsets and consumer electronics. The result is a processing powerhouse: a new competitor, better equipped to drive growth, innovation and choice for its customers in commercial and mobile computing segments and in rapidly-growing consumer electronics segments.

We at Avatar are pleased with this news. We believe it will allow us to build even more powerful and flexible machines for our customers.

APC Participates in CompTIA Exam Workshop

July 2, 2006

The owner of Avatar was recently invited to join a select group of A+ Certified Professionals to participate in an exam workshop to create and submit new questions for the upcoming revision of the A+ Exam. His participation permitted Avatar the opportunity to make its mark on every future A+ Certification test. We here at Avatar Performance Computers, LLC, were honored to have this opportunity and look forward to working with CompTIA in the future.

Several big names were represented at the workshop, as well as several small businesses (some of which were home-based), proving that CompTIA really wants to make the exam more friendly to a broader spectrum of IT fields. When the revision comes out (approximately third quarter, 2006) the newly certified candidate will have a stronger understanding of his or her chosen career path. This will make them more recruitable and more valuable in a wider range of IT fields.

CompTIA (the Computing Technology Industry Association) is an internationally respected organization which--among other things--awards certifications to IT professionals which most IT recruiters require. Among CompTIA's list of awarded certifications are A+, Network+, Security+, Server+, and HTI+.

You can learn more about CompTIA Certifications by clicking here.

You can see the list of Subject Matter Experts who participated in the creation of the new exam questions by clicking HERE.

UPDATE: James Hance's old company name "Reticle Systems" was given credit on CompTIA's website. He had requested that the error be corrected as soon as possible. The error HAS been corrected and the list now gives credit to Avatar Performance Computers, LLC for James' participation as a consultant representing his company.

APC Markets New Product Line

March 25, 2006
Avatar announces the coming of their new line of computers. In a bold attempt at marketing non-proprietary systems under the guise of name-brand packaging, Avatar Performance Computers hopes to tap into the multi-billion-dollar customer base usually found purchasing Dell, Gateway, HP, and IBM products.

By using top-of-the-line parts purchased either retail, OEM, or wholesale, Avatar can build a system that performs up to twice as well as the average name brand at the same price. Plus, when the three year warranty runs out, the customer isn't completely left out in the cold. Any part can be replaced or upgraded at retail computer parts stores, rather than paying exhorbitant prices to have a specialist install a proprietary component that can only be bought from the computer manufacturer.
